Among a few remaining flyable AD-6s, 139606 is one of the four Skyraiders "rescued" from those that were flown to Thailand by VNAF pilots during the final days of South Vietnam, culminating with the fall of Saigon to the North Vietnamese on 29 April 1975.

Following it's arrival in the states in the late 1970s, 139606 was first painted in the Korean War style dark blue paint scheme of VA-145.
